AP PGECET 2026: Round 1 Counselling Registration Open, Eligibility, Syllabus and Cutoff

AP PGECET 2026 (Andhra Pradesh Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test) was conducted by Andhra University on behalf of APSCHE across three days — April 28, 29 and 30, 2026 — in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. The result was declared on May 14, 2026 with a pass rate of 93.29%. Round 1 counselling registration opened on July 24, 2026 and is now underway at the official APSCHE portal — qualified candidates must register and pay the processing fee immediately to secure their place in the verification queue.

• Round 1 Counselling Registration (Open Now): AP PGECET 2026 Round 1 counselling registration is currently open at cets.apsche.ap.gov.in/PGECET/. Pay the processing fee — ₹1,000 for General/OBC/EWS and ₹500 for SC/ST — to activate your slot. In 2025, the registration window stayed open for about 10 days.
• Certificate Verification at HLCs: Physical certificate verification at designated Help Line Centres (HLCs) is expected in the last week of July to the first week of August 2026. Carry all original documents and attested photocopies — verification is mandatory before you can enter web options.
• Web Options Entry (Round 1): After certificate verification, you can enter your preferred colleges and branches online. The web options window is expected to open in the first or second week of August 2026. Based on the 2025 schedule, candidates get about 5 to 7 days to fill and edit their choices.
• Round 1 Seat Allotment: Round 1 seat allotment results are expected in mid-August 2026. In 2025, allotment was published within 10 to 12 days of the web options window closing. Allotted candidates must self-report at the college within the deadline or the seat is cancelled.

What is AP PGECET 2026?

AP PGECET stands for Andhra Pradesh Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test. It is a state-level entrance exam for admission to M.Tech, M.Pharmacy and Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) programmes across universities and colleges in Andhra Pradesh. Andhra University, Visakhapatnam conducts the exam on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE).

APSCHE is a statutory apex body set up by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in May 1988. It oversees higher education policy and coordinates entrance examinations for postgraduate technical programmes in the state. AP PGECET is one of the major exams under its umbrella.

In 2026, AP PGECET was held across 13 subject-specific papers covering different engineering, technology and pharmacy disciplines. Candidates who qualify can apply for seats in 333 participating colleges affiliated with 17 universities in Andhra Pradesh. The exam is held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode with 120 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 120 marks. There is no negative marking.

85% of the available seats are reserved for local candidates — that is, students who are permanent residents of Andhra Pradesh or Telangana. The remaining 15% are unreserved seats open to candidates from anywhere in India.

Apart from AP PGECET, GATE-qualified candidates (for M.Tech) and GPAT-qualified candidates (for M.Pharmacy) can get direct admission through a separate counselling process run by APSCHE. They do not need to appear in AP PGECET.

AP PGECET 2026 Important Dates

The AP PGECET 2026 exam cycle started with registration in February and concluded with the result declaration in May 2026. As of July 26, 2026, Round 1 counselling registration is open. The table below shows upcoming events first, followed by all completed dates in chronological order.

AP PGECET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

You must meet all AP PGECET 2026 eligibility conditions before applying. If even one condition is not met, your candidature can be cancelled at any stage — including after counselling. Here are the complete requirements.

Age Requirement

You must be at least 21 years old as of the exam date. There is no upper age limit for AP PGECET 2026.

Nationality and Domicile

Only Indian nationals can apply. You must also be a permanent resident of Andhra Pradesh or Telangana to be eligible for the local area quota, which covers 85% of available seats. Candidates from other states can apply only for the unreserved 15% seats.

Educational Qualification

For M.Tech programmes, you must have passed a B.E. or B.Tech degree (or an equivalent qualification) in the relevant engineering or technology branch. Candidates who are appearing in their final year of the qualifying exam can also apply, but they must produce the final certificate at the time of counselling.

For M.Pharmacy, you need a B.Pharmacy degree. For Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate), you must hold a Pharm.D degree or its equivalent.

Minimum Marks in Qualifying Exam

GATE / GPAT Qualified Candidates

If you hold a valid GATE score (for M.Tech) or a valid GPAT score (for M.Pharmacy), you are eligible for direct admission through a separate GATE/GPAT counselling process. You do not need to appear in AP PGECET for this route. However, you can appear in AP PGECET additionally if you want a separate rank list as a backup.

AP PGECET 2026 Application Process

The AP PGECET 2026 application process was fully online through the official portal cets.apsche.ap.gov.in/PGECET/. Registration opened on February 9, 2026 and closed on March 16, 2026 without a late fee. Candidates who missed that deadline had a second chance until April 1, 2026 with a late fee.

Step-by-Step Application Guide

• Step 1 – New Registration: Visit the official portal and create an account using your mobile number and email ID to get login credentials.
• Step 2 – Fill the Application Form: Enter personal details, educational qualifications, your chosen exam paper, preferred exam centre and category information.
• Step 3 – Upload Documents: Upload a recent passport-size photograph and signature in the required file format and size as specified in the official notification.
• Step 4 – Pay the Application Fee: Pay the fee online through net banking, credit card or debit card. The fee is non-refundable.
• Step 5 – Submit and Save Confirmation: Review all details before submitting. After submission, download and save the confirmation page for your records.

AP PGECET 2026 Application Fee

A correction window was available on March 24 and 25, 2026. During this period, candidates could fix errors in their submitted form — including paper choice, exam centre, personal details and uploaded documents. No corrections were permitted after March 25, 2026.

The AP PGECET 2026 registration process is now closed. Candidates who did not register during the open window cannot appear for this year’s exam.

AP PGECET 2026 Admit Card

The AP PGECET 2026 hall ticket was released on April 21, 2026, one week before the exam. Candidates downloaded it from the official portal by entering their registration number, hall ticket number and date of birth. The hall ticket was a mandatory document — candidates without it were not permitted inside the exam centre.

The AP PGECET 2026 admit card download window is now closed. The hall ticket was valid only for the exam held on April 28–30, 2026.

AP PGECET 2026 Answer Key

APSCHE released the preliminary AP PGECET 2026 answer key on May 6, 2026 for all 13 subject papers. Candidates had a 48-hour window — from 3:00 PM on May 6 to 3:00 PM on May 8, 2026 — to raise objections against answers they believed were incorrect.

Each objection had to be supported with a relevant textbook reference or academic source. APSCHE reviewed all valid objections and incorporated corrections before releasing the final answer key alongside the result on May 14, 2026. The final answer key was used to calculate the marks and ranks for all candidates who appeared in April 2026.

How to Use the Answer Key to Estimate Your Score

Candidates can cross-check their responses against the answer key to estimate their marks. Here is how:

• Count the number of questions where your response matches the answer key
• Each correct answer carries +1 mark
• There is no negative marking — wrong or unattempted answers carry zero marks
• Your estimated score equals the total number of correct responses

Since the final answer key is now published, you can download your rank card directly from the official portal. The rank card shows your official marks, rank and percentile — no need to estimate.

AP PGECET 2026 scores are accepted by 333 colleges spread across 17 universities in Andhra Pradesh. These include government engineering colleges, university department colleges, private aided colleges and self-financed institutions. Among all participating institutions, Andhra University College of Engineering (AUCE) in Visakhapatnam is the most sought-after. Seats in AUCE close at very low ranks — around 100 for Computer Science & Technology — so you need a top score to get in. University department seats at SVU, SKU and ANU are the next tier and also fill up quickly.

Government and university department seats are always more competitive than seats in private self-financed colleges. If your rank is above 5,000 in a popular paper, you may still find seats in private colleges during the later rounds of counselling. Start with the Exam Pattern

You get exactly 1 minute per question. The questions test conceptual understanding, not speed tricks. Since there is no negative marking, you should attempt every single question — even if you are not sure, you have a 25% chance of getting it right with a random guess. Never leave a question blank.

Prioritise Engineering Mathematics

Engineering Mathematics is part of all 12 engineering papers and usually makes up 20–25% of the questions. Many candidates neglect this section and lose easy marks. Strong performance in mathematics can significantly improve your rank without you having to master every topic in the core subject. Cover all standard topics — linear algebra, calculus, differential equations, probability and numerical methods — before the exam.

Cover the Complete Syllabus

AP PGECET covers your full B.Tech programme. Do not skip subjects because you found them hard in college — they will appear in the paper.
