CMAT 2027: Registration Expected November, Exam Dates, Syllabus, Pattern and Cutoff

What is CMAT 2027?

CMAT stands for Common Management Admission Test. It is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBA, PGDM, and other management programs in over 1,300 AICTE-approved institutes across India. NTA took over the exam from AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) in 2019. AICTE had been running CMAT since 2012.

The exam is held once a year in computer-based mode (CBT). More than 40,000 candidates appear for CMAT every year. It is a 3-hour test with 100 questions worth 400 marks total. There is no sectional time limit, so you can manage your time across sections as you like during the exam.

CMAT is especially important for students targeting top management colleges in Maharashtra — such as JBIMS, SIMSREE, and KJ Somaiya. These are among the most sought-after CMAT colleges in India, and they have very high cutoffs (99+ percentile). CMAT 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

How to Fill CMAT 2027 Application Form

1. Step 1 – New Registration: Go to cmat.nta.nic.in and click on ’New Registration’. Enter your name, email ID, and mobile number. A system-generated application number will be sent to your email and mobile. Save it carefully — you will need it throughout the process.
2. Step 2 – Fill the Application Form: Log in with your application number and password. Fill in your personal details, academic details, and contact information. Choose your preferred exam city. Select the management programs and colleges you want to apply to.
3. Step 3 – Upload Documents: Upload a scanned passport-size photograph and your signature in the format and size specified in the official instructions. Make sure the photo has a white background and your face is clearly visible.
4. Step 4 – Pay the Application Fee: Pay the fee online via net banking, debit/credit card, or UPI. The fee is non-refundable and must be paid within the deadline. Keep a screenshot of the payment confirmation.

CMAT 2027 Admit Card

The CMAT 2027 admit card will be available for download on the official website at cmat.nta.nic.in. Based on past years, NTA releases the admit card about 4-5 days before the exam. Last year (CMAT 2026), the admit card was released on January 21, 2026, four days before the exam on January 25, 2026.

CMAT 2027 Preparation Tips

CMAT 2027 preparation requires a structured approach. The exam has a moderate difficulty level — easier than CAT but more competitive than state-level management exams. With 2-3 months of focused preparation, you can score well. Here are section-wise tips to help you prepare effectively.

Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation

• Focus on basics: percentages, ratio & proportion, time-speed-distance, and profit-loss. These topics appear most often in CMAT QTDI.
• For Data Interpretation, practice bar graphs, pie charts, and table-based sets. DI in CMAT is usually not very calculation-heavy, but speed is important.
• Use RS Aggarwal’s Quantitative Aptitude or Arun Sharma’s book for practice. If your basics are weak, start with NCERT Class 9-10 math.
• Solve at least 10-15 QTDI questions daily to build speed and accuracy.
• Do not spend too much time on Geometry or Permutation & Combination — these topics appear less frequently in CMAT.

Logical Reasoning

• Logical Reasoning is one of the highest-scoring sections in CMAT. Most candidates find it easier than QTDI.
• Practice coding-decoding, blood relations, and seating arrangements — these appear almost every year.
• Work on your speed. You should be able to solve 20 LR questions in about 30-35 minutes in the exam.

General Awareness

• This section needs consistent daily effort throughout your preparation. There is no shortcut.

Mock Tests and Time Management

• Take at least 10-15 full-length CMAT mock tests in the last 2 months before the exam.
• Analyze every mock test: check where you lost time, which topics were your weak areas, and which questions you got wrong despite knowing the answer.
• Since there is no sectional time limit, plan your section order in advance. Start with your strongest section to build confidence and secure marks early.
• In the final exam, try not to spend more than 45-50 minutes on QTDI. If you are stuck on a question, move on and return later.
