NEET PG 2026 Eligibility Criteria

You must meet all NEET PG 2026 eligibility conditions before registering. NBEMS verifies eligibility at the time of counselling — if you are found ineligible at that stage, your seat allotment can be cancelled even after you have appeared for and qualified the exam.

Educational Qualification

• You must hold an MBBS degree or a provisional MBBS pass certificate from a medical college recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
• Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) must hold a valid FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) screening certificate issued by NBEMS.

Medical Registration

• You must have a valid permanent or provisional MBBS registration from NMC or any State Medical Council at the time of registration for NEET PG 2026.

Internship Completion

• You must complete the mandatory one-year rotatory internship on or before September 30, 2026.
• Candidates in the final months of internship can appear for the exam, as long as they will finish by September 30.

NEET PG 2026 Admit Card

NEET PG 2026 admit card is expected on August 27, 2026, three days before the exam. NBEMS does not send physical admit cards. You must download it from natboard.edu.in using your registration credentials.

The admit card is mandatory for entry into the exam hall. You will not be allowed to sit for the exam without it. Download and print at least 2 copies as soon as the admit card is available.

City Intimation Slip — Released Before the Admit Card (August 11, 2026)

On August 11, 2026, NBEMS will release the City Intimation Slip. This tells you the city where your exam centre is located — giving you 16 days to plan travel and accommodation. It is not the admit card and cannot be used for exam hall entry. The exact centre address (building name and location) will only appear on the admit card on August 27.

AIIMS Delhi, PGIMER, and JIPMER seats in top specialities typically close in the top 50–500 ranks. Preparation Tips for NEET PG 2026

With the exam on August 30, 2026, registered candidates have about 5 weeks left. The revised 180-question format gives slightly more time per question compared to last year, but the 42-minute section lock makes it essential to manage time within each section — you cannot borrow time from sections you finish early.

1. Prioritise Clinical Subjects Above Everything

Clinical subjects — Medicine, Surgery, OBG, and Paediatrics — contribute roughly 45% of the total paper. Spend the most study hours here. The key shift in NEET PG over the past 3 years is the increasing share of clinical vignette questions. Do not just read theory — practise applying knowledge to patient scenarios at every step.

2. High-yield Para-Clinical Strategy

Pathology, Pharmacology, and Microbiology together account for about 30% of the paper. These have consistent question patterns year after year. Master Robbins for Pathology, KD Tripathi for Pharmacology, and Ananthanarayan for Microbiology. In Pharmacology, pay special attention to recent drug approvals and updated classification guidelines — NBEMS regularly tests these.

3. Do Not Skip Community Medicine and Forensic Medicine

Both are shorter subjects with highly predictable question types — national health programme statistics, epidemiology calculations, medico-legal basics, and forensic toxicology. Candidates who prepare these subjects well often score 10–15 additional marks compared to those who skip them. In a competitive exam where a few ranks separate speciality choices, this matters significantly.

4. Build a Visual Question Bank

X-ray findings (consolidation, pleural effusion, pneumothorax, cardiomegaly), ECG patterns (STEMI, Wolff-Parkinson-White, AV blocks), histology slides (Barrett’s oesophagus, Krukenberg tumour, Reed-Sternberg cells), and dermatological clinical photographs appear regularly. Build a mental image bank through regular visual question practice — textbooks alone are not enough here.

5. Practise Only Section-Locked Mocks

You must use mocks that enforce the 42-minute section lock and do not allow inter-section navigation. If you practise with unrestricted mocks, you will develop the wrong timing strategy and face a serious disadvantage on exam day. Use platforms that replicate the NBEMS CBT interface.
