University of Bath Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027

Bath University requirements for Indian applicants combine an academic transcript, an accepted English test, and a purpose statement; the School of Management adds an application fee and interview.

PG Requirements

  • Academic: Bachelor’s with 60% or CGPA 6.0/10 for standard MSc entry; competitive programmes such as MSc Finance and MSc Business Analytics ask for 70% or CGPA 7.0/10 (UK first-class equivalent)
  • English test: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (6.0 in each) for Category A programmes; 7.0 overall (6.5 or 7.0 each) for humanities and law
  • Application fee: GBP 60 for School of Management MSc; zero fee for all other MSc programmes
  • Transcript verification: Digital or attested transcripts uploaded at application; official copies sent post-offer

UG Requirements

  • Academic: Class 12 with 75% to 90% across best four subjects from CBSE, ISC, or State boards; competitive courses expect 85% to 90% with subject-specific marks
  • English test: IELTS 6.5 (6.0 each) or equivalent; IELTS waiver applies with Class XII Core English at 75% CBSE or ISC (up to 80% for State boards) plus 12 months English-medium degree study

Key insight: Duolingo English Test is accepted for pre-sessional English routes only and is not valid for direct degree entry; Indian applicants relying on Duolingo must factor in a 6 to 10 week pre-sessional programme before the main course.

University of Bath Acceptance Rate 2027

The University of Bath does not publish an official institution-wide acceptance rate. Third-party admissions data places the overall offer-to-application ratio at 12% to 15% (estimated), with the School of Management running the most competitive funnel across MSc Finance, MSc Business Analytics, and the full-time MBA.

Undergraduate courses in Architecture, Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering apply the tightest thresholds due to portfolio, subject-mark, and lab-capacity constraints.

Reality check: Bath University sits in the same admissions band as Warwick, Durham, and Exeter — Indian applicants clearing 70% at bachelor’s level with a strong English test and a targeted purpose statement realistically convert offers, but late-cycle applications after March face significantly lower acceptance for competitive MSc cohorts.

Bath University occupies a single hilltop campus on Claverton Down, 15 minutes by bus from the UNESCO-listed Bath city centre and roughly 90 minutes by train from London Paddington.

  • Location and transport: Campus sits above Bath Spa station; the U1 and U2 university buses run every 10 minutes to the city centre and are free for enrolled students

What Indian students say: Campus life is compact and safe, which suits first-time overseas students. The library is open 24/7 in term time and the walk between departments takes under 10 minutes, so timetables with back-to-back lectures are manageable.

University of Bath Placements and Career Outcomes 2027

Bath University reports strong graduate outcomes with more than 90% of Master’s graduates in employment or further study within 15 months of course completion, according to the latest HESA Graduate Outcomes survey.

  • Graduate employment (15 months post-study): 92% for PG Master’s graduates (HESA Graduate Outcomes, latest reporting)
  • Median starting salary (PG Master’s): GBP 32,000 (INR 34.24 lakh) — market median from HESA outcomes
  • Median MBA post-programme salary: GBP 55,000 (INR 58.85 lakh) — reported by Bath MBA Career Services
  • Recruiter sectors: Financial services, technology consulting, engineering firms, and Big Four professional services are the most active recruiters at School of Management fairs
  • Post-study work visa: Indian graduates qualify for the UK Graduate Route granting 2 years of post-study work rights (3 years for PhD)

Insider note: Bath’s placement year model, where PG students can add a 6-month industry internship into MSc Business Analytics and MSc Computer Science, converts strongly for Indian students seeking Skilled Worker visa sponsorship straight after graduation.

University of Bath vs Peer Universities

Indian PG applicants weighing Bath typically shortlist mid-ranked Russell Group and campus-focused UK universities with strong management or engineering brands. The comparison below uses the QS 2027 edition and 2026-27 tuition brackets.

UniversityQS World 2027Avg Annual PG Fee (GBP / INR lakh)Differentiator

University of SurreyVerify at topuniversities.com23,000 to 30,000 (estimated) / 24.61 lakh to 32.10 lakhStrong hospitality, electronic engineering

Bath stands out on three data points — a QS top-150 rank held for four editions, top-10 national placement in all three UK league tables, and School of Management triple-accreditation. Indian applicants prioritising rank stability and management or sports science depth typically pick Bath over its Southwest UK peers.

Verdict for Indian Students

Bath University fits Indian applicants targeting a top-150 QS UK university with a specialised MSc in management, analytics, or engineering, and a total investment of INR 40 lakh to 55 lakh against a median PG starting salary of INR 34 lakh. The Graduate Route 2-year post-study work visa anchors the return-on-investment case, especially for MSc Finance and MBA graduates.

Bath is not the right pick for cost-sensitive Indian students seeking sub-INR 25 lakh MSc budgets or those aiming purely for London-based recruiting; the MBA universities in UK list carries lower-cost alternatives such as Loughborough or Aston for those profiles.

University of Bath FAQs

Ques. What English test waiver conditions does the University of Bath apply for Indian applicants?

Ans. Bath waives the IELTS requirement for Indian applicants who have completed at least 12 months of degree-level study at an English-medium institution, hold Class XII Core English marks meeting the board floor (75% CBSE or ISC, up to 80% for State boards), and whose degree was awarded within the last five years. The waiver applies to standard degree entry, not pre-sessional English routes.

Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at Bath University?

Ans. Yes, Student visa holders enrolled at the University of Bath can work up to 20 hours per week during term and full-time during vacation periods. The university’s Careers Service lists on-campus roles in the library, sports village, and student residences, and Bath city has consistent part-time hospitality and retail demand across the academic year.

Ques. Does the University of Bath require GRE or GMAT for MSc admission?

Ans. Bath does not require GRE or GMAT for any taught MSc programme, including School of Management courses. The full-time MBA also runs a no-GMAT policy for candidates with 3+ years of work experience. A no-degree pathway exists for MBA applicants with 10+ years of senior management experience but no bachelor’s degree.

Ques. What is the application fee for University of Bath postgraduate courses?

Ans. The School of Management charges a GBP 60 (INR 6,420) application fee per MSc application. All other Master’s programmes across engineering, science, humanities, and social sciences carry a zero application fee. The full-time MBA and all PhD applications also apply no fee. UCAS undergraduate applications carry the standard GBP 28.95 UCAS fee.

Ques. Which Indian education loan providers recognise the University of Bath?

Ans. Bath appears on the approved university lists of SBI Global Ed-Vantage, HDFC Credila, Bank of Baroda Scholar, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, and Avanse Financial Services. Loans up to INR 1.5 crore are available without collateral for eligible profiles because Bath sits inside the QS top-150. Prodigy Finance and MPOWER also fund Bath MSc and MBA cohorts.

Ques. Does the University of Bath conduct interviews for Indian MBA applicants?

Ans. Yes, all shortlisted MBA applicants complete a 30 to 40 minute interview with the MBA Admissions Director, held virtually for Indian candidates. The conversation covers career trajectory, motivation for a UK MBA, and fit with the Bath cohort profile. School of Management MSc programmes do not routinely interview, though the Dean’s scholarship shortlist may request a short discussion.

Ques. What financial proof do dependents of Bath students need for a UK visa?

Ans. Dependents of University of Bath students on the Student route must show maintenance funds of GBP 845 (INR 90,415) per month per dependent for up to nine months, in addition to the main applicant’s course fee and living cost proof. Funds must sit in the account for 28 consecutive days ending no more than 31 days before the visa application date.

Ques. How does Bath verify Indian transcripts and degree certificates?

Ans. Bath accepts digital or attested transcripts at the application stage from CBSE, ISC, and State boards, and requires original or officially certified transcripts before enrolment. WES evaluation is not mandatory, but the university may request university-issued sealed transcripts sent directly from the awarding institution for verification when marksheets carry ambiguous grading scales.

  • I believe there are close to 12 campuses in my university. All the campuses are in my university. Uni of Bath is not a city uni, meaning all campuses are just metres apart.
  • My Uni has a library building. It is multi-storied and has separate reading areas. Sports facilities are the best in the country. There in university medical centre in the university that is operated by NHS and is there only for students and staff.
  • There are many events that take place in our university and accommodations. This includes Diwali, prom night, Halloween, many dramas and various sports events.
  • We have SU (students union). SU has many societies in them like Indian Bollywood society, dance society, environment society, DJ society and photography society. All these societies conduct their own events as well.

Fees

  • The fee was 26400 pounds. They were broken down in 3 parts. 1000 to get the unconditional offer letter. 12200 on Sept 23. The rest had to be paid during February. However, they were pretty accommodating and provided various payment terms. The payment was semester wise.

  • Monthly expense - 1100 (everything included)
    800 - rent
    70 - transportation
    230 - Food and misc.

  • The University of Bath has one main campus on Claverton Down, approximately a mile from Bath's city centre. It's a magnificent, self-contained campus perched atop a hill overlooking the city. The School of Management has a separate building which is newly developed. They have huge classrooms and a cafe overlooking the greenery.
  • Our main campus offers outstanding facilities. The library is the main center, with an extensive collection of books, journals, and online resources. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week during the academic year, making it ideal for late-night studying.
  • We have excellent sporting facilities, including a £35 million Sports Training Village. It has a gym, swimming pool, athletic track, tennis courts, and several indoor sports halls. Many Olympians have trained here.
  • There is a medical center on campus that provides healthcare services to students. We also have several cafes and eateries, as well as a student union building with its own bar and entertainment area.
  • Major campus activities include the Summer Ball, held at the end of the academic year. It's a large party featuring live music, food, and entertainment.
  • We also have Freshers Week at the beginning of the year, which is jam-packed with activities to welcome new students.
  • There are a variety of extracurricular activities offered. The Students' Union operates approximately 100 societies that cater to a wide range of interests, including intellectual, cultural, creative, and social groups.

Fees

  • The tuition fees for the University of Bath's MSc Marketing program for international students was £25,000 during my stay. I managed to use this to offset my studies’ academic side. The cost is not inclusive of any accommodations or living expenses. Several accommodation facilities exist in the university but as the costs tend to differ, it is advisable to visit their site for the current rates.
  • They have a reasonable flexible fee structure which is more advantageous to students. In order to secure our place and to indicate that we were committed to going, a non-refundable deposit for my course had to be paid. However, at a later date, this deposit was deducted from our total tuition fees.
  • We were given the options for the payment of the remaining tuition: Pay in full or Split the amount into two equal parts and pay after a certain period.
  • In terms of monthly expenditure, I don’t think that I will be able to provide an accurate indication of my own spending due to the fact that differences in student lifestyle and choices greatly affect expenditure. You may also visit the official website of the university regarding the current or approximate expenses of living in Bath.

Overview

  • I applied to over 20 business schools in the UK.
  • The universities I got rejections from are as follows: University of Leeds, Aston Business School, Kingston University, University of Stirling, University of Liverpool, University of Glasgow. The rejection was mainly due to a lack of business or managerial experience in my CV. These universities mainly look for 3-5 years of managerial experience. I had roughly 4 years of experience (includes lead experience but not managerial).
  • I applied to these universities apart from the above: University of Bath, Lancaster University Management School, University of Strathclyde, Durham University, University of Birmingham, University of Sheffield, University of Nottingham, Loughborough University, Cardiff University, University of Surrey, Brunel Business school, Queen's University Belfast, Birmingham City University, Buckinghamshire New University, University of westminister, Hult business school, University of East Anglia, Bangor University, University of Sussex.
  • While most of the universities did not reply, I got offer letters from the following: University of Surrey, Brunel Business school, Lancaster University, Queen's University Belfast, University of Bath, Bangor University, Hult business school.
  • Here are the factors I considered while choosing Bath over others: QS ranking of the university, proximity to major cities like London, university reputation, extra-curricular activities, scholarship, no hard need to write GMAT, career prospects, multi-project suite and reviews from alumni.
  • Once applied and waited for 10 days, I got an email for the first round of interviews which was more of a culture fit interview, explaining my professional experience and intention to do an MBA. After a week I got selected for the second round which was with the career head, where they will assess if MBA is the right way and how they can help us achieve it. Got the conditional letter after two weeks or so. There was a video submission done to apply for a scholarship (optional).
  • If the candidate's professional experience suffices, they do not ask for a GMAT but an IELTS score of 7 or above is a must. It was very smooth and probably one of the fastest ones comparing to other universities.
  • September 2023 intake was the one I planned for. In the UK, there are generally 2 intakes: September and January, only 5-10% of all universities have Jan intake which is a selected list of good colleges.
  • I wanted to do an MBA to start my own business in the future. Due to rising competition in India, the best way for me to do this was through an international MBA. Overall, the timeline was spread out over 2 months. From the initial date of application, to the unconditional letter.

  • One campus, we have a separate building for School of Management. All facilities are available from on-campus medical assistance, library, student accommodation centre, cafe, supermarket to sports centre.
  • The Bath Freshers' week is a bug celebration, along with Summer ball and multiple events happen on a regular basis. They are primarily targeted at the undergrads so MBA students would not go to much. We had entrepreneurship clubs, seminars, talks, webinars, networking events and a lot that were better suited for us.
  • Bath has the second-best sports club in UK with a big sports centre called the STV (Sports Training Village). A world class athletics track, gym, tennis courts and much more. Bath also has a good number of student clubs for all activities, culture and others.

Overview

I chose this university based on its ranking in my field and based on how they had advertised their teaching and course curriculum. Overall, the experience has been decent with respect to academics, but not that great when it comes to marking for exams/ assignments.

Campus Life

Campus life is fun. We have some, or other events going on that take care of student engagement and involvement. Sports facilities are all excellent but paid for separately, not included in tuition fees. The library is also well-updated and huge enough to accommodate a lot of students. The cafes on campus are decent too.

Overview

The ranking of the university, the reviews from previous students, and the career prospects made me choose this university and the particular program. The overall experience of my study time at the University of Bath was top notch. Ever since the first day, my professors laid down a clear path of study and how the curriculum would progress. There were several social events to make friends at, which made it easy to make friends. The university hosted frequent career events to interact with recruiters, build connections and get to know more about the jobs. The university allowed us to choose the subjects and modules we wanted based on our interests and we were well informed about each module.  We also had the option to choose a practice track to gain real world knowledge by working with companies.

The university has its separate library building and super fast WiFi is available throughout the campus and in accommodations. There are all kinds of sports available with societies to help you learn the game and play with others as well. There are all sorts of other societies like marketing and consulting societies and clubs to help you gain knowledge about them.

Overview

The overall experience was great and it really developed me a lot, in terms of way of thinking, positive mindset and how to create a good work culture and environment. The course gave me a lot of learning and some very good and big projects including team work and individual aspects of striking them. There were some challenges and problems too, but with the support of faculties and a good environment, I tackled everything and successfully completed everything with so much of excitement and experience.

The campus life is amazing with beautiful environment and view. The atmosphere is friendly and charming with so much of great infrastructure. There are so many food and canteen outlets in campus with everything you want to eat and grab for your day. The research facilities are also top notch with so many advance technologies and systems. The study rooms are well built and clean with proper seating arrangements. For sports fans, you will find everything related to every sport, with football grounds, running track , gyms, basketball court, tennis and major indoor games too. The sports section is another loving perk of living there. You will find WIFI everywhere with good speed. The library is also well built with so much of books and almost every course related information.

Overview

To start a new life in a new country and pursue a career in Data Science. The program offers a 1 year placement for the MSc Data Science program which is basically a year long entry level role but it is competitive and you need to apply to secure a placement. The university is very well reputed and has a great CS department with amazing employment prospects and careers service team.

Campus life is great. Plenty of clubs and activities. Infrastructure is great as well. Everything a great university needs, its there. Great sports facilities - best in the UK. Also nominated as best sports university in the UK. Plenty of opportunities to better yourself as a person. City has tons of activities as well - one of the safest in the UK. Quite a small city and public transport is cheap and convenient.

Overview

University of Bath is one of the best university in UK for Data Science with good ranking. The curriculum provided by the university is really good which covers almost every topic in data science. The deep learning and reinforcement learning modules would be very helpful and not included in most of the other universities. The course had 2years of course including placement which I thought would be beneficial for getting job in new country.

Campus life is excellent in university. There are lots of extracurricular activities happening inside the campus throughout the year. There are gym, fitness center, a big swimming pool, badminton court, etc. The university also provides lot's of part time job opportunities for students in campus. There is a big library with 5 floors and you can study whole day in it. Faculties also provide research opportunities in campus as part time job.

Overview

The course modules were really interesting to me, especially since I had done similar subjects in my under graduation. With relevant topics in todays day and age , it was a step up from what I had learned and how I have to apply it in my work life as I begin working in my family business and look for new opportunities as and how I take over the business. In a post-covid world having these techniques to think and look at opportunities in different ways will help stand out from the crowd.
